Link building had been at hype in year 2003-2004
and webmaster or SEO companies aggressively exploited
Google Page Rank by collecting several hundred
links for their sites either through Reciprocal
Link Exchange or the Paid Links - the much easier
to get thousands of links overnight.
The study has proved and the Google's new patent
has also confirmed that Google is/will be imposing
filters to the incoming links wherein it will
consider-
a) age of the links
b) volume of the links
c) relevance of the links
d) nature of the links
Age of the Links
Google grows wiser with time and it has proved
this again by imposing a damping factor to the
incoming links wherein not only the volume and
quality of links will be counted but also their
age. The longer a page links to you, the more
value you receive in return. Also it may not reflect
any value from the incoming links instantly but
after 3-6 months.
